This is an open enrollment course. Participants may enroll at any time. Upon submission of enrollment the participant is immediately added to the course. The course welcome email provides login and other important information.

This is an asynchronous course, meaning it does not contain real time components. Participants do not need to be logged into the course at specific times to attend lectures or view presentations. Participants do not need to complete the course in one sitting.

Completion Deadline:

Participants have 60 days from date of enrollment to view the presentation, as often as desired, as well as submit the two completion requirements outlined below. If after 60 days the completion requirements have not been submitted, the participant will be graded out of the course as incomplete.

 

Course Focus and Learning Objectives

VetCE on Demand: A Day in the Life of a Dermatologist utilizes the archive of a live presentation under the same name.

This course examines the diagnosis, treatment, and client education of dermatological disorders of the dog and cat. It explores common and uncommon skin diseases such as pemphigus, discoid lupus erythematosus, systemic lupus erythematosus, erythema multiforme, Steven's Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis, and epitheliotropic lymphoma. Allergic dermatitis is rounds out the review.

At the end of the course participants should be able to:

  • explain pattern recognition to help narrow down differential diagnoses, which will help to improve diagnostic and treatment recommendations
  • outline methods of diagnosis and management common and uncommon skin disorders
  • discuss the pathogenesis and diagnosis of cutaneous adverse food reaction and atopic dermatitis
  • outline a multimodal approach to therapy in the management of atopic dermatitis and why treatment failures occur
  • explain how to improve client expectations and treatment buy-in

  • complete the quiz with a score of 80% or better - multiple attempts are permitted
  • submit the course survey
