Course Focus and Learning Objectives

VetCE on Demand: Recruitment and Retention - Neurodiverse Individuals are Valuable Members of the Veterinary Team utilizes the archive of a live presentation under the same name.

Is your practice missing an opportunity to attract and retain highly motivated and qualified people who may have some kind of disability, such as being neurodiverse? Considering that the average cost of accommodating an individual is less than $500 and the average cost per hire is $4,700, accommodating individuals is an opportunity to attract and retain dedicated talent.

Upon completion of this course the participant should be able to:

  • classify what qualifies as a disability, considering many disabilities are transient and unseen
  • discuss how a company can be intentional about providing a welcoming, supportive environment for workers with disabilities
  • give examples of how a company can create an inclusive hiring process
  • explain what gets in the way of recruitment, interview, and onboarding
  • discuss the important aspects of long-term processes for retention and employee growth
